Do you know any female, age 40, in need of a Mammogram or Pap Smear who has no insurance or a large co-pay for such a test?
How about a male age 50 who needs a Colorectal Screening and has no Health Insurance?  The American Cancer Society can help!
A special grant has been awarded to them to seek out specific patients in need of the above at no cost to the individual. If more treatment is need, the treatment will ALSO be covered. Call Beth Weest from The American Cancer Society @ 454-4034 for more information.

As the nice weather comes upon us, so does the danger of Lyme disease. Lyme disease is transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected blacklegged tick. Symptoms include fever, headache,  fatigue and a characteristic skin rash with a bull’s eye rash that appears near or around the site of the bite. If left untreated, infection can spread to joints, heart and nervous system.  Most cases of Lyme disease can be treated successfully with a few weeks of antibiotics. Prevention is key and can include using insect repellent, wearing protective clothing such as long sleeves, long pants tucked into socks and boots and checking your skin and clothing for ticks every day. Remove ticks as soon as detected. Go to the websites to learn how to remove them: www.cdc.gov and www.nyhealth.gov.
